Plan for readings on social networks

The are the most important readings for Tues 3/21 class are Chapters  3 and 4 in the Easly and Kleinberg book, Networks, Crowds and Markets.

The Burt article is very long. You will get most of the value of the article by skimming up to the section on Contigency Factors (pag 43) and then the conclusion (page 67-70).  Your goal should be to gain a good understanding of the theoretical differences between closure and brokerage networks and a sense of the type of data relevant to their value.
